The Silver Salmon Grille in Astoria has been featured in Wine Spectator magazine, which rates restaurants worldwide on their selection of wine. It honored the Silver Salmon Grille with its Award of Excellence, given to restaurants with wine lists that offer a well-chosen selection of quality producers and show a thematic match to the menu in price and style. Typically, the lists comprise at least 80 selections.

Wine Spectator’s annual Dining Guide, featured in the Aug. 31 issue, lists 88 Grand Award winners and all the 3,487 restaurants around the world that received Wine Spectator awards for their wine lists. The Silver Salmon Grille joins that list along with 28 other Oregon restaurants that received the award.

Thomas Matthews, executive editor, said “This year, the number of award-winning restaurants sets a new record. We believe it’s proof that diners are demanding better wine and that restaurants are delivering the goods. When you’re traveling, look for the Wine Spectator award certificate. It’s a guarantee you’ll find something tasty to drink with your meal.”

Wine Spectator has a circulation of 2.2 million.

The Silver Salmon Grille is at 1105 Commercial St., and owned by Jeff and Laurie Martin. It is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
