Hazel LaVerne Buchanan

Astoria resident, 82Hazel LaVerne Buchanan, 82, of Astoria, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland.

Mrs. Buchanan was born Sept. 7, 1921 in Two Harbors, Minn., to Thomas and Anna Lind.

In 1971, she married Doug Buchanan in Coos Bay. He died in 1987.

Mrs. Buchanan was a housewife.

She is survived by a son, Jack Dietrich of Astoria; two daughters, Sharon Nelson of Newberg and Carol Smith of Astoria; two step-children, Tana and Douglas Buchanan; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass was held Saturday at Ocean View Memorial Garden in Coos Bay.
