Even though Bellisima Salon and Boutique has only been open for three years, owner Debra Angus says her salon has been busy and business has been consistent since the day she opened. Angus, who was born and raised in the area, took a chance at opening her own salon, which proved to be very rewarding. “We’ve been blessed,” said Angus.
“We’re like a family,” she added, commenting on the relationship she and her three stylists maintain.
Angus also said her youngest daughter is going to school so she can join the salon this winter and one of the stylists is expecting a baby very soon. “We’re expecting a new addition,” Angus said.

Bellisima’s stylists are dedicated to their clients and the salon. “Making people feel better is what the profession is all about,” Angus commented.
Bellisima is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is also open for special appointments.
What sort of volume does Bellisima do?
“We have four stylists – it’s a full service salon. We are swamped all the time and exceedingly busy – there’s always a bustle.”
What services and products do you offer?
“We specialize in color. We have three nail techs – we do manicures, pedicures, nails, hair color, men’s cuts – we do everything. I have at least 15 lines of retail. Extensive jewelry, purses and giftwear.”
How long have you been in business?
“I opened three years ago. I used to work in a salon here locally. It was four days between the time I quit my job and the time I opened. It was easy and I loved every minute of it.”
How do you market your business?
“Most of our advertising is word of mouth. In a small community, when someone sees your work, that’s enough.”
What is your business philosophy?”My business philosophy is finding a place for people to relax and have quiet time. We serve wine with our evening appointments. We love children, but in order for these people to have personal time and relax, and for us to provide that, we want mothers to have time not to think about children or jobs.”
When is your busiest time of the year?
“My whole year is consistent. The minute I opened the doors, we were busy. We’ve maintained a steady flow of business – maintaining professionalism and integrity is a big key to the success of this industry.”
Who are your customers?
“Our clientele includes loggers, truck drivers, businessmen, mothers, professionals – all different types of clients. Men come in here with muddy boots and ask if they should take off their shoes. We tell them ‘No, come in.’ It’s a place to relax.”
