Loyalty Days boasts parade

ILWACO, Wash. – On Saturday, the Ilwaco Children’s Loyalty Day Parade, sponsored by the Ilwaco Merchants, will be held in downtown Ilwaco. Check-in starts at 11 a.m. at First and Lake Streets. Those streets will be closed to traffic beginning at 5 a.m. The parade starts at noon.
The Jelly Bean Children’s Choir, the Ilwaco fifth- and sixth-grade band, Josie Wright, and the Junior Miss Loyalty Day Court are all part of the preparade entertainment scheduled to run between 11 a.m. and noon on First Street.
Preregistration forms are available at any Peninsula pharmacy, all branches of The Bank of the Pacific, Ilwaco City Hall, Port of Ilwaco and at any local grocery store on the Long Beach Peninsula or in Naselle. Participants may register on parade day. Come enjoy the fun family event.
On Sunday, the Loyalty Day program begins in downtown Long Beach at noon with an invocation by Pastor Jarrett Johnson. The master of ceremonies is Nabiel Shawa.
The guest speaker is retired Lt. Col. Norman Bowers and the reviewing officer is Cmdr. Ken Stuber, U.S. Coast Guard. The U.S. Coast Guard fly-over is at 1 p.m., with the parade starting immediately afterward. Some 113 entries will be in the parade.
