EUGENE — Oregon Christian Writers invites all interested writers, poets, and artists to come to their Spring conference Saturday, May 1, at Northwest Christian College, 828 E. 11th Avenue, in Eugene. The conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.

David Kopp, a senior writer/editor at Multnomah Publishers, is the featured morning keynote speaker, who will discuss “Writing to Change Lives.” He will also teach one workshop entitled, “Getting Started in Nonfiction Books.” Kopp has been Bruce Wilkinson’s partner on such New York Times bestsellers as The Prayer of Jabez and Secrets of the Vine.

Terry Glaspey, Acquisitions Editor at Harvest House, will keynote in the afternoon, offering, “Writing as a Spiritual Discipline.” Glaspey has authored several books, including A Passion for Books and the ECPA Gold Medallion finalist Not a Tame Lion: The Spiritual Legacy of C.S. Lewis.

Other workshops will include: “Write & Market Prayerful, Passionate, Polished Poetry,” by Portland author/poet and OCW President Jennifer Anne Messing; “The Inescapable Priority List,” and “Writing for Truth, Meaning, and Glory,” by author/teacher Deanna Hershiser; “Ministry Marketing, Partnering for Success,” by author/editor Perry P. Perkins; “A Kiddy Lit ABC,” by Dick Bohrer; “Fit to Write,” by Beth Sharpton; and “Submitting Articles for the Web,” by Portland-based Web designer Angella Diehl.

The registration fee is $8 for members, $8 for full-time students, or $30 for nonmembers. It pays for the full day of teaching plus coffee, rolls and fruit during registration and during the morning coffee break. Participants can purchase a hot lunch on site for $7.50 (in addition to the registration fee), or bring a sack lunch.
