Viola Vivian Abrahamson
Nurse, 87Viola Vivian Abrahamson, 87, of Seaside, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, in Seaside.
Mrs. Abrahamson was born Oct. 24, 1916 in Astoria to Walter L. Anderson and Ilma Kalela.
She graduated from Astoria High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing.
On Sept. 5, 1942 she married Oscar H. Abrahamson in Astoria. He died in 1964.
She worked as a registered nurse at both hospitals in Astoria as well as at various other hospitals and clinics, including Dr. VanDeusen’s office. Her last job was at the Clatsop County Health Department as a home health nurse. She retired in 1978.
Mrs. Abrahamson moved to Seaside in 1976 and was active in Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Ramona-Rebekah Lodge, Finnish Brotherhood Lodge of Astoria and Ladies of Kaleva.
Everywhere she went she touched the lives of many people. Her outgoing personality, loving nature, and generosity enabled her to make friends easily. It seemed that every time she left her house her extended family grew. “Mrs. A,” “Auntie Vi” and “Grandma Vi” will be fondly remembered by many, many people.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Abrahamson and Terry Peck of Portland; a sister, Bernice Parker of San Bruno, Calif.; two nephews, Robert Jones of Forest Grove and Dr. Bradley Parker of San Bruno, Calif.; two nieces, Rebecca Parker of New York, N.Y., and Lisa Abrahamson of Astoria; a step-grandson, Mariah Zaharakis of Portland; a granddaughter, Stephanie Hanthorn of Seaside; and numerous relatives in Finland.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. April 10 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Seaside.
