Mary Ann Cline

Accountant, 65Mary Ann Cline, 65, of Redmond, died Sunday, March 28, 2004 in Redmond after a long illness.

Mrs. Cline was born March 11, 1939 in Haskell, Texas, to J.T. William and Alvia Bringer Howard. She moved with her family to Pasadena, Texas, where she graduated high school in 1957.

She then moved to Southern California where she met and married Jack Anderson Cline Sept. 2, 1958. He died in 1988.

In 1962, they moved to Astoria where they became involved in the Walluski community and the Clatsop County Rodeo Association. Mr. and Mrs. Cline purchased Westlake Grocery in 1965 and later built Westlake Stables where they hosted many community events and parties. They operated both businesses until 1981 when they sold them. They then managed the Ebb Tide Motel until Mrs. Cline began working at Seaside General Hospital. She worked as an accountant at Gearhart By the Sea from 1986 until she retired in 1998.

In 1999, Mrs. Cline moved to Redmond to help care for her grandchildren.

Family members say Mrs. Cline was an inspiration to all who knew her. She always thought of others before herself.

She is survived by two sons, Jack A. Cline of Hydaburg, Alaska, and Shawn Cline of Redmond; two daughters, Becky Chase of Madras, and Debbie Kandle of Redmond; eight grandchildren, Justin Bellingham of Aberdeen, Wash., Anthony Bellingham of Madras, Kal Middaugh and Marissa Kandle of Redmond, Curtis and Mary Cline and Peter and Joey Adams, all of Hydaburg, Alaska; two sisters, Gladys Melton of Rialto, Calif., and Sue Tarabochia of Astoria; a brother, Jerry Howard of Redmond; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hughes-Ransom Cremation & Mortuaries, 220 N. Holladay Drive, Seaside.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Hughes-Ransom Cremation & Mortuaries.
