Joan Mary Wickman

School lunch director, 77Joan Mary Wickman, 77, of Bend, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003 in McMinnville.

Mrs. Wickman was born March 15, 1926 in Creston, Mont., to Oran and Hilda Smith Bartlett. She grew up in the Flathead Lake area of Montana before moving to Salem to finish high school. She graduated from Oregon State University in 1953 with a degree in home economics.

On July 2, 1955 she married Walt Wickman in Portland. He died earlier.

The Wickmans lived in Washington before moving to Seaside in 1972, where Mrs. Wickman worked as the director of school lunch programs. In 1994 they moved to Sunriver.

Family members said she was a great homemaker and a person devoted to prayer. She was an active member of the Sunriver Community Church and the Gideons Auxiliary.

Mrs. Wickman is survived by two sons, John Wickman of Arch Cape and Mark Wickman of McMinnville; a daughter, Leslie Wickman of Long Beach, Calif.; and two grandchildren. A sister, Dorothy Bailey, and a brother, Donald Beebe, died earlier.

A memorial officiated by Pastor Glen Schaumloffel will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunriver Community Church.
