Eleanore R. Massaro

Veterinary assistant, 65Eleanore R. Massaro, 65, of Seaside, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Beaverton.

Mrs. Massaro was born March 28, 1938 in Pittsgrove, N.J., to Charles and Eleanore Redding. She grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Bridgeton High School in Bridgeton, N.J. Her high school yearbook stated, “All who know her count her as a true friend.” She attended Cumberland College, majoring in English and psychology.

On Dec. 29, 1971, she married Joe Massaro in Pittman, N.J. He survives, living in Seaside.

Mrs. Massaro worked as a surgical assistant to a veterinarian for 13 years in New Jersey. Her favorite pets were her cats, most of which had been stray or abused.

The Massaros enjoyed visiting the West Coast and moved to Oregon in November 1999. Family members said Mrs. Massaro loved walking on the beach and in the forest to enjoy nature.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Massaro is survived by a sister, Jeanette Bean of Sumter, S.C.; two daughters, Kim Dougan of Beaverton and Kelly Dougan of Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, Kevin Dougan of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren, Melissa Platt of Vineland, N.J., and Chelsea and Zachary Xavier of Beaverton; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

At her request, no service was held.

Hughes-Ransom Cremation & Mortuaries in Seaside was in charge of arrangements.
