Weddings: Block-Ihander

Block-IhanderSarah Block of Clackamas, daughter of Rose and Stephen Block of Bend, exchanged wedding vows with Paul Ihander of Clackamas Aug. 16 at Conklin’s Guest House in Sisters. He is the son of Rick and Vicki Ihander of Warrenton and Sandra Ihander of Astoria.

The bride was given in marriage by her father in the 5:59 p.m. outdoor ceremony officiated by the Rev. James Valley, for which the couple wrote their own vows. She wore a white princess dress, and the Three Sisters mountains provided a summer evening backdrop. The groom’s sister, Amy Michaels, read a poem, and the couple shared bowls of popcorn with the 130 family members and friends in attendance as a symbol of their shared love.
Matron of Honor was Joy Turnbull of Marion, Mont. Bridesmaids were Laura Accomazzo of Bend, Mandy Bates of Cheyenne, Wyo., Jennie Hardie of Seattle and Jill Salmon of Central Point.
Best Man was the Rev. James Valley of Bellevue, Wash. Groomsmen were Dan Block of Corvallis, Mark Cary of Astoria, Jim Ihander of Warrenton and John Layton of Astoria.

The bride graduated from Western Oregon University in 2003. The groom is a 1997 University of Oregon graduate who works as a broadcast journalist for KEX Radio in Portland.
A reception at Conklin’s Guest House followed the ceremony. The couple honeymooned in Maui, Hawaii and plan to live in the Portland area.
