Thursday, Aug. 14Solar Prism Greenhouse will hold a demonstration on green house gardening and year-round gardening from noon to 6 p.m. The demonstrations will continue from noon to 6 p.m.Friday, Aug. 15 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 at Brim’s Farm and Garden, 34963 U.S. Highway 101.

Heronswood Nursery in Kingston, Wash., celebrates “Hydrangea Daze,” through Saturday. Over many years, Heronswood has amassed a rather heady collection of hydrangea species from collections in Mexico, Costa Rica, Nepal, Korea, Japan, China, Vietnam, Taiwan and E. North America as well as innumerable selected forms from both European and Japanese breeding programs. Lectures on hydrangeas (and their relatives) by Dan Hinkley and other staff, as well as demonstrations on how to dry and later use hydrangea flowers for breathtaking wreaths and arrangements, will be given throughout the day. One half of the garden admission of $1 is donated to the Heronswood Horticulture Collection of the Kitsap County Regional Library System. Hours are 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
