‘Shanghaied’ performance benefits museum

Get Shanghaied for a cause with the Astor Street Opry Company and the Astoria Children’s Museum.

The ACM, located in the Uppertown Firefighters Museum, 2968 Marine Drive, joins with the Astor Street Opry Company for a benefit performance of the local melodrama “Shanghaied in Astoria” Saturday, July 26. Tickets for the benefit performance include after-dinner sweets. The Children’s Museum will raffle off goodie baskets to help raise money for children’s activities and new programs and exhibits.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Old Finnish Meat Market, 279 W. Marine Drive. Tickets cost $15 and are available at the door or by calling (503) 325-6104.

The Astoria Children’s Museum, located in the Uppertown Firefighters Museum, 2968 Marine Drive, is a nonprofit organization and a member of the Northwest Association of Youth Museums. The musuem is open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday. For more information, call (503) 325-8669.
