Harvey award winners announced

The city of Astoria Historic Landmarks commission has announced the winners of the 2003 Dr. Edward Harvey Historic Preservation Award. Three residential buildings and one commercial property received the award, that was created in 1989 to honor historic renovations and its namesake, Harvey, who was an early champion of preserving the region’s past.

The residential winners are: John and AdaAnne Wolcott, 922 17th St.; Paul G. Williamson Jr., 1692 Irving Ave. and Mitchell and Connie Fery, 837 38th St.

William Lind and Virginia Laughery won the award for commercial property for their work at 1198 Commercial St.

Framed certificates will be presented to the winners by Astoria Mayor Willis Van Dusen at the Aug. 4 Astoria City Council meeting.
