Clatsop Post 12 of the American Legion, Department of Oregon, held its annual School Awards Program May 19. Post Commander Jon Truman presented the American Legion Certificate of School Award and a medal to one eighth grade boy and girl from each school in Clatsop County. Winners were selected by their teachers, and were recognized for courage, honor, leadership, patriotism, scholarship and service.

Award winners for each school were:

Astoria Middle School – Christina Tweed and Jamie Rebuelta

Hilda Lahti Elementary School – Rachele Schuyler and Kevin Martins

North Coast Christian School – Justine Marxer and Henry Balensifer

Warrenton Grade School – Lesleann Hayward and Daniel Wolfe

Winners from Star of the Sea School, Elizabeth Doney and Chris Partin, will receive their awards at a school assembly May 30.
