Katherine Matschiner’s operatic voice joins Con Amici’s strings and piano, Jeffrey Reynolds, Alexandra Myers and others, for an evening of chamber music beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, May 16 at the Clatsop Community College Performing Arts Center, 16th Street and Franklin Avenue.
Beethoven thunders and caresses, Haydn toys with graciousness and brilliance, Chausson romances and cries. The audience will be treated to a Haydn string quartet, Beethoven’s quartet for piano and strings, songs for soprano and piano by Hugo Wolf, Ernest Chausson and others, with everybody joining in for a lush, beautiful finale by Chausson.
General admission is $10, $6 for seniors and students and $4.50 for children younger than 12.
A retrospective exhibit by the freelance artist, Sally Lackaff opens at 6:30 p.m. before the performance. This lobby show includes paintings, drawings, and graphics. A focal point of Lackaff’s interest is the fascination of the intricacies of nature.
