Seven local congregations will join for a community Good Friday service, sponsored by the North Coast Ministerial Association.
The story of the crucifixion will be presented in Reader’s Theater style from the perspective of various participants in the event: the weaver of the crown of thorns, the carpenter who made the cross, the blacksmith who made the nails, the soldier who put up the sign over Jesus’ head and a disciple. Kara Geertz will sing “Above All.”
The service will take place at 12:05 p.m. April 18 at the Astoria First United Methodist Church, 1076 Franklin Ave. Participating churches include Astoria Christian, Astoria First Baptist, Bible Baptist, First Presbyterian, Pioneer Presbyterian, Astoria Church of the Nazarene, Astoria Seventh-Day Adventist and Astoria First United Methodist.
