SEASIDE – For the 47th year, Seaside Kids Inc. is asking the community to support free sports programs for boys and girls in South Clatsop County. Nearly 600 children participate in baseball, softball, football, golf and swimming programs coached and directed by volunteers.

The sports programs are funded primarily by the annual membership drive, going on now. South county residents will receive a letter

with information on how to

contribute to the program. Other funds come from team sponsorships, concessions, the annual pancake feed and various other projects.

Most coaches are working parents and have very little time for ball field maintenance, according to Treasurer Ed Rippet; therefore residents and businesses are being asked to “adopt a field” and help with painting, weed eating, cleanup, dragging and marking of fields.

Community members are welcome to attend the group’s morning meetings at the Seaside Pig ‘N Pancake Restaurant on the first and third Friday of each month. For information, call John Morris at 738-8621.
