CLATSKANIE – The Clatskanie Chess Club will host the second annual “Clatskanie Chess Nuts Classic Scholastic Tournament” from 9 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Clatskanie Community Education Center, 520 S.W. Bryant St.

Registration is $20 at the door and check-in is between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Coaches’ meeting is at 9:45 a.m. and the first round will begin soon after. Participants should bring tournament chess sets and clocks. Trophies will be awarded to 25 percent of all entrants. No one goes home empty-handed.

The Clatskanie Chess Club boasts a membership of 50, age 6 to adult, and meets from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Mondays for all playing levels and from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays for advanced and tournament level players at the Clatskanie Community Education Center.
