Kirkpatrick’s book “A Name of Her Own” chronicles the story of Marie Dorion who was the first woman in Astoria. Her life paralleled that of Sacagawea in many ways and the two women may have known one another.
Artist and local historian Erhard Gross will join Kirkpatrick and discuss a knife that was a potentially critical artifact linking the lives of Dorion and Sacagawea.
Kirkpatrick is a Northwest author who lives on a 150-acre rock and rattlesnake ranch in Moro. She writes fiction based in historical fact and many of her novels are set in Oregon. Her prior works include “A Sweetness to the Soul,” “All Together in One Place,” “No Eye Can See,” and “What Once We Loved.”
